The River Course clubhouse claims magnificent placement on an ancient bluff of large, live oaks between the Kiawah River and Bass Pond. Its original design, the work of Shope Reno Wharton, became a major influence on future architecture across the Island. When, in 2010, expansive renovations began, Member feedback dictated much of McKellar Associates’ updated design. The shingle-style structure was expanded and now includes a restaurant, bar, grill, lounging spaces, and a 4,500-square-foot ballroom. A cutting-edge fitness room and men’s and women’s locker facilities allow for easy transition between a round of golf and clubhouse cocktails with friends. The venue aptly serves to celebrate authentic spirit while great walls of windows overlooking the surrounding land and waterways ensure that nature, itself, is a guest at every gathering.
