The Legare Waring House at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, Charleston‘s hidden gem, is unique not only for it’s beauty but also for it‘s rich history. Built in the 1840’s, the modest two-story cottage was a part of Old Town Plantation. By 1865, after the burning of the plantation‘s great house during the Civil War, this structure became the most significant shelter on the property for the beleaguered Parker and Legare families. In the 1930’s, Ferdinanda Izlar Legare Backer Waring became the sole owner of Old Town Plantation and the last of nine families to own the property.

The 37-acre McLeod Historic Site is located on James Island, just across the Ashley River from historic downtown Charleston. The grounds include a riverside outdoor pavilion, a sweeping oak allée, and the McLeod Oak, which is thought to be more than 600 years old. Set against the backdrop of a restored antebellum plantation house, the tree-lined estate offers a beautiful and historic setting for multiple-sized groups. The interior of the plantation house offers a bridal suite and groom’s quarters on the second floor.

Cypress Trees is Edisto Island’s most unique and private wedding, reception and event venue. Dating back to the

The Citadel is a landmark in Charleston and South Carolina that is noted for its educational reputation as well as its rich history.
